Józef Madeja Festival

The International Józef Madeja Festival is a unique artistic event, which is organized annually in October in the Greater Poland (Wielkopolska) region. Many interesting events take place during the festival, including concerts, lectures, master classes and meetings with exceptional artists from Poland and abroad.

One of the most important goals of the Festival is to influence the development of culture in Greater Poland through promoting artistic music. The invited artists present the most outstanding achievements of polish chamber music and commemorate the important anniversaries of the music world. During a special concert, compositions (including premieres) are performed by the Festival Clarinet Orchestra – the only orchestra of this kind in Poland.

The festival is organized by the Józef Madeja Association, based in Poznań and operating throughout Poland, as well as cooperating with cultural institutions abroad.

The festival’s patron is Józef Madeja – an outstanding clarinettist, professor of the Music Academy in Poznań  and a distinguished organizer of the musical life in Greater Poland. As part of honoring Madeja’s activities, the Association has created the festival that will allow not only maintain memory of this outstanding musician and composer, but also propagate artistic music and cultural life in Greater Poland.
